Preventative Wellness Exam

At Flourish Family Medicine we believe that well-child exams are a cornerstone of preventative pediatric healthcare. These routine check-ups play a crucial role in ensuring the healthy growth and development of your child from infancy through adolescence. Our dedicated team is committed to providing comprehensive care that supports your child's health at every stage.

What are Well-Child Exams?

Well-child exams are regularly scheduled check-ups where your provider can assess your child’s physical, emotional, and social development. These visits allow for early detection of potential health issues, monitor growth and development, and offer parents the opportunity to discuss any concerns about their child's health.

The Importance of Well-Child Exams

1.Monitoring Growth and Development: These exams include measuring height, weight, and head circumference (under age 3). Tracking these can help ensure your child is growing as expected and can identify issues early.

2. Preventative Care: Well-child visits allow for routine screening for vision, laboratory evaluations an and opportunity to have an open discussion regarding vaccines in a safe and supportive environment.

3. Education:  Our providers provide guidance on important topics like nutrition, sleep habits, safety, and age-appropriate behaviors. This education helps parents make informed choices about their child’s health and lifestyle.

What to Expect During a Well-Child Exam

- Physical Examination: Assessing the child’s body for overall health and normal functioning.
- Growth and Development Review:  Monitoring your child's growth charts based on age-related averages to assess physical development.
- Behavioral Assessment: Discussing milestones in development such as learning, social interactions, and emotional well-being.
- Vaccinations: Education and Administration of eligible immunizations in a safe and supportive environment.
- Parental Guidance: Providing a chance to discuss parenting concerns, which might include sleeping patterns, eating habits, or managing misbehavior.
- Planning Ahead: Setting health goals for the future, such as weight management or transitioning to healthy school lunches.
